hola, ombre

Speaking of hair -
{by the way, mine smells fantastic today thanks to Clear - see my review here}
I'm about due for a change. Don't worry, these long locks aren't going anywhere because it takes FOREVER to grow my hair out. But I'm always looking for a way to spruce up my typical long, straight coif.
I've done bangs several times, and I like them for a hot minute, but then sometimes I feel like I look 12, which immediately prompts me to grow them out again.

So, I've been thinking...what's up with this ombre hair thing?
Have you tried it? Would you?

Ombre Hair
{check out full-size pics on my Pinterest board creatively titled, Hair}

The super light/bleached ends scare the hell out of me, but I'm totally digging the look of the subtle ombre - i.e. Lily Aldridge {middle}, Rachel Bilson {top}, whatever Kardashian sister that is {middle} and that chick in the plaid {bottom}.

 I want to stay some shade of brunette from root to tip, but does that then defeat the purpose of ombre?
Be honest.
I have some free time on my hands this weekend, so this could happen soon. And I'm thinking this might be the change I need to spice up the old 'do.
Well, that and the sock bun the intern in my office just showed me how to do.
Be seriously, you know how indecisive I am. Yay or nay to me trying the ombre hair thing?
Vote below.
My split ends depend on it!

I think it looks good if you get someone who knows what they are doing to do it. Like the picture on the top right corner to me looks awful. That straight across line of the two colors just looks really bad to me.

yeah, i'd only go to a really realllllly well-trained stylist, otherwise you could end up looking like a skunk or like your roots are growing out, haha.

i agree with you, though - i like the look of the kardashian girl's hair. i prefer it in various shades of dark blonde, as opposed to brunette...but maybe that's just me?

I was just talking about this on my blog the other day. I saw an ombre home kit and it made me wonder if I should do ombre instead of highlights. My sister is a stylist so she does my hair (I wouldn't be using the kit - too scared to try that haha)...but I'm debating this look, too! :)

I'm going for the ombre look by letting my highlights grow out ;-) I'm halfway there!

I have been wanting to do this to my hair!!

I've done the lazy ombre thing by letting my highlights grow out... luckily my natural shade isn't too dark so it works. I am kinda loving this look... it's low maintenance and easy to change if you want... I am a big YES vote!

I saw give it a try! I did at around the holidays and loved it. They have a DIY Ombre Kit now that I might have to try!

I say yes! I've had it before. Very pretty and low maintenance. A lot of mine were on the under layers so they showed up a lot when I would curl my hair. They were a honey/copperish color. Still in the brunette family, but a good enough contrast to my very dark brown hair.

DO IT!!! I've been wanting the look too. It looks great with shoulder length hair too.

I just recently did mine and I love it. My stylist is great if you need a #. I've stayed in the brown family just because my hair is so dark to start with. But its so cute, super low maintenance and looks great with my hair naturally curly or styled straight. (This glowing review coming from someone who had sooooo much hair trauma from her last stylist she didn't let anyone touch her hair for 8MONTHS)

Not even ashamed that I know that Kardashian is Khloe.

If I had long hair I would totally do this. I think you could definitely rock it though. Go for it!

I love ombre! I actually used two of these pictures (lily aldridge and jessica biel) as my inspiration when I did my own, so I understand you wanting it subtle! I preferred to do it myself since I'm kind of a stickler with my hair (and that way if I messed it up, it was my own fault!) and it was super easy! When I was over it I just chopped it all off in favor of a shorter haircut, but I will say that if you intend to keep your locks long, it will cause damage. Just to keep in mind. I say go for it!

Best thing I ever did for my hair! I seriously love mine!!!

I've had ombre twice...both were attempts to copy Rachel Bilson. I like it but my hairdresser hates it and says "it's on its way out" as far as hair fashion. I think it gives that different look for awhile and I loved how it gave some up-dos a different look :) Go for it just to try somehting new and my hairdresser hates when I say this, but "it's just hair...you can always cut it or dye it all back" :)

I really like ombre hair but I have never tried it myself. I would definitely be more inclined to the subtle ombre, it seems less trendy than the dark to super blonde variation.

I like it done certain ways, because if it goes wrong, it basically looks like someone grew their roots out, you know? It can look super pretty!!!

I've been doing my hair myself for about 1.5 years, and don't think I would trust myself. Definitely go to a stylist!

YES!!! I think you would look fabulous with either shade of ombré! But def have a stylist do it I don't trust those new ombré do it yourself kits. I love changing up my hair it's so fun! Thank you so much for linking up lover!!!! So I was going through my calendar.....your birthday is coming up!!! Yay!!

It's tricky to do ombre and have it turn out just right. I actually love the look of "reverse ombre"--with the ends of the hair darker than the roots. I think with that version, there's less chance of looking like the ends of your hair just got sun bleached or fried. :P

I think it looks good on darker hair rather than blond. I'm a blond and wouldn't do it but, that's just me. Loved to see how it turns out...if you do it!

I'm rocking some serious ombre hair mostly because I'm tired of highlighting my hair and I'm just going to let it grow out ;)
