an event i never miss

 photo DSC01447.jpg

I shouldn't say never because there was this one time in 2010 I went camping instead.
There was a trombone involved. Not in a gross way. And ridiculously awesome campfire songs.
Anyway, there is one day out of the year that makes me feel like a 7-year-old on Christmas morning:
Crawl for Cancer!

It really should be it's own holiday it's that much fun.
This year will be the fourth Crawl for Cancer I've participated in. I looked back through my blog posts and realized that I have not clued you in to the greatness of this event. And for that I apologize.

So what is Crawl for Cancer?
A bar crawl to raise money for cancer charities.
In Columbus, the benefiting charities differ from year to year.
A group of bars serve as stops along the crawl route {in Cbus there are 18 bars in the Arena District that participate}.

How does it work?
Get together a team of 10-12 people {$40 per person}.
Assign a team captain to get your team registered {this is my job}. You can choose your t-shirt color!
Your team is given a map of 5 bars to stop at the day of the crawl {each team has a different map, but you can link up to 4 teams on the same route}.
At each bar, your team gets 5 free pitchers of beer {every bar has drink specials if you don't want beer}.
Drink, dance, high-five, pose - aka have fun for a good cause!
Thousands of people partake in this one-day event and trust me, you want to be one of those people!

Here's how it went down last year:

Hey, Columbus, Ohio!
Crawl for Cancer is May 25.
Registration starts Monday, March 11.
You want to sign up this day because it will sell out!

For those of you not in Cbus, there are crawls across the country so check the map to see if one is close to you. If not, find out how you can start your own crawl
Have you ever crawled for cancer? If so, do you love it as much as I do?

P.S. Enter my sponsor, Ashley's iPhone case giveaway here.
P.S.S. Don't forget to take 29% off all ads on my blog through March in honor of my 29th birthday on the 18th! Use promo code "MARCH29" at checkout.

That is so awesome! I wish my city (Grand Rapids, MI) did something like this. I'm surprised they don't. If they ever start one here, I would totally get a team together!! Thanks for sharing :)

I've always wanted to do it, but it falls when we have annual plans. And now can't drink beer (gluten allergy). So basically, I'm jealous.

We're doing the Crawl for the third time this year (I'm in Cbus, too). Our neighborhood has three teams and the night before we have a "draft" to figure out who's on which team. So fun!
