summer successes and failures + a Starbucks giveaway

Each summer, I look forward to having some extra time to cross a few more things off my to-do list and try a some new things. So I ambitiously put together a summer bucket list and I'm happy to report that only three of 15 items on it have been crossed off {even if some of the accomplishments may be a bit of a stretch. But it's my list and I'll cross things off if I want to}. And, quite frankly, if I had accomplished everything on my list, I probably would have gotten a big head from being so successful. So really, a few failures is just my way of keeping myself in my place.

1 // Wear the above pair of pants as much as possible.

2 // Visit three Ohio wineries with Shawn. We went to a cute little wine shop called Eno on Michigan Ave. in Chicago in June. Not in Ohio and not technically a winery, but I'm counting it. We attended the Arthritis Foundation's Wine & Dine event - again, not a winery, but I'm counting it.

3 // Enjoy every moment of my girls' trip to California. Such an amazing trip!

4 // Read four books. Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Ann Fowler and If I'm Missing or Dead: A Sister's Story of Love, Murder and Liberation by Janine Latus. The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman. Mystic River by Dennis Lehane. I started reading Hidden Agendas by Lora Leigh, but couldn't get into it. I'm currently zipping through Replay by Marc Levy.

5 // Go to one summer festival in Columbus. I went to DigFest at the Grandview Yard in June.

6 // Go canoeing or kayaking.

7 // Try something new...like rock climbing or hiking or skydiving. My family took a long weekend to Deer Creek State Park in southern Ohio and we went hiking each day.

8 // Learn a new photography skill. I have mastered taking selfies using my tripod and remote. This wasn't difficult, but considering I bought the wrong remote the first time, this counts.

9 // Work out five times a week. I was following this schedule for T25. Since cheer has started, I am working out with my girls three days a week.

10 // Go to a country concert. I saw Toby Keith at the Lima County Fair.

11 // Finish decorating at least one room in our house. I think I'm done with one of our spare rooms. I'll post pics soon. We also redid our fireplace remodel in the living room.

12 // Spend more days outdoors than in.

13 // Watch the sun rise and spend a night laying under the stars.

14 // Try a new adult beverage. Check out this recipe I made using ByeJoe Red.

15 // Invite myself onto someone's boat for a day. Any takers?!

Did you cross everything off your summer bucket list?

And now that Starbucks has officially ended summer by releasing the PSL {which I have yet to try - gasp!}, it only seems appropriate to give away a $25 Starbucks gift card so you can indulge in at least three or four PSLs courtesy of these two lovelies:

I am still blown away that this woman wanted to sponsor my little ol' blog - TWICE! I am forever indebted to her for helping me earn some street cred around blogland. Anyway, I've signed up to participate in her second Blog Auction {mark you calendar to bid on my Group Giveaway ad spot, a $30 value with a starting bid of $5!} and you should too by Sept. 15! Helene also has started offering Group Consultations and her next one is October 8, which will focus on blog design. And she's teaming up with The Daily Tay to host Blogtober '14. Helene also shares lots of great ideas and tips for bloggers, which I eat up like candy on Halloween. Go show her some love. She deserves it.

I am also so excited to have Sarah back for a second time as a sponsor. Her writing draws me in. I appreciate her honesty and genuineness. She wrote these cute blog posts about 36 things she wants to teach her future son and daughter. She loves Tennesse football and the South, and received one of the highest compliments, in her mind, when someone compared her to Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights. And I absolutely loved this post about her love for love stories. Go check out Sarah's blog and let her know I sent you :)

And now, enter to win some free PSLs:

P.S. I've changed my sponsorships, so go check 'em out. And use code "NEW25" to get 25% off any ad all month long!

You did so good! I missed a couple of things on my bucket list this summer, mainly canoeing and a drive in movie theater experience, but for the most part I lived it up!

I didn't cross everything off of mine, but I'm happy that I got some of them! You accomplished so much- sounds like you had a great summer!

I was at Digfest! It was so much fun.

Last year, my now-husband and I went to the Firelands Winery up in Sandusky. After trying their Cabernet Sauvignon, and trying another local Ohio on at Digfest, I've decided I just don't like Ohio's grapes. =/
